This 1954 John Lautner was designed for his personal secretary, now referred to as the “Lawrence E. Deutsch Residence,” in Los Angeles CA. The raw unsealed old growth ‘canted’ redwood fascia boards were painted over. The raw unsealed kitchen Golden Burma teak wall panels, were painted over. The raw unsealed kitchen Honduras mahogany cabinets, were painted over.
Two corner aluminum windows had been added to the Lautner designed ‘stucco corner,’ to counter his trademark ‘glass window corner. They were removed and the stucco returned.
The original bare unsealed hard woods and plaster colors were breathe taking, even by today’s standards. My favorite, the original blood red Formica shelving was covered over by a purple pink Formica.
