Concrete block, can be power washed because it dries out, unlike wood, that retains moisture. Power washing is mandatory if you need to remove an inferior primer and/or top paint. The surface ph should be tested before coating. Any signs of efflorescence, must be addressed.

With the great paints today, a couple of coats will last a lifetime.
